Burbur Bust

Ivan Udaina Burbur is a forgotten man in Croatia, although he is known in the world as the last speaker of a language. In Spain, many works, books, paintings, comics are dedicated to him; there is also a museum or a permanent exhibition, but in our country only Alen Žic discovered the story about him a few years ago, so he researched and then wrote a book. He asked me to create a sculpture or a bust in his honor, and to present the bust at the book launch. That’s how it was done. I made a bust for several days from a mixture of sawdust and wood glue from the only picture that generally exists of him. I had to use my imagination and imagine some details of his face because the picture is blurry and you can’t see the exact details. The sculpture was later presented to the mayor of Krk and is now in a display case in his office.
